One Week Sailing Itinerary – Corinthian Gulf

The Corinthian Gulf offers a completely different sailing experience compared to the Saronic islands. It is quieter, less crowded, and rich in history, with destinations such as Ancient Epidaurus, Galaxidi, Delphi, and Ancient Corinth. This route combines beautiful sailing passages with some of Greece’s most important archaeological sites along with the unique opportunity to pass through the Corinth Canal.

Nea Peramos

Day 1 – Nea Peramos to Nea Epidaurus (24 N.M)

Your sailing adventure begins from our base in Nea Peramos, located on the western side of the Saronic Gulf, offering quick access to the cruising area without losing the first day at sea.

After a pleasant sail across the Saronic Gulf, you arrive at Nea Epidaurus, a charming coastal village known for its proximity to the famous Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus.

The archaeological site is best visited in the morning, as it usually closes later in the afternoon. Visiting during summer weekends, you may even have the opportunity to watch a classical Greek theatre performance in one of the most historic theatres in the world.

Enjoy dinner in the small harbor with traditional Greek tavernas overlooking the sea.

Nea Epidaurus Harbor

Day 2 – Nea Epidaurus to Kiato – Corinth Canal Crossing (32 N.M)

Today’s sail takes you west along the Peloponnese coast toward the famous Corinth Canal, where you will enter the Corinthian Gulf.

The Corinth Canal is one of the most impressive maritime passages in Greece. Completed in 1893, it cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth, connecting the Saronic Gulf with the Corinthian Gulf. The canal is about 6.4 km long and only 24 meters wide, with steep limestone walls rising dramatically on both sides.

Passing through the canal is a unique sailing experience as your yacht slowly navigates between towering cliffs that rise more than 80 meters above the water.

After exiting the canal into the Corinthian Gulf, you continue sailing west along the northern Peloponnese coastline until reaching Kiato, a lively seaside town with a long waterfront promenade and several tavernas.

Kiato Harbor

Day 3 – Kiato to Trizonia (39 N.M)

Today you cross further into the Corinthian Gulf toward Trizonia, a small island that feels like a hidden sailing paradise.

Trizonia is one of the few islands inside the Corinthian Gulf and offers a peaceful marina surrounded by traditional tavernas and pine-covered hills. The island is car-free and perfect for a relaxing evening walk along the waterfront.

Many sailors consider Trizonia one of the most charming and quiet stops in the region.

Day 4 – Trizonia to Galaxidi (19.5 N.M)

After leaving Trizonia, sail north toward Galaxidi, one of the most picturesque towns in the Corinthian Gulf.

Along the way, you may stop near Eratini for a swim in crystal-clear waters before continuing toward Galaxidi.

Galaxidi is famous for its traditional captains’ houses, maritime history, and charming harbor. The town has a unique atmosphere with narrow streets, beautiful neoclassical buildings, and excellent waterfront tavernas.

Galaxidi Harbor

Day 5 – Galaxidi to Itea (3.5 N.M)

A short sail brings you to Itea, the main harbor serving the famous archaeological site of Delphi.

From Itea it is easy to take a taxi or bus to Delphi, located about 20 minutes away on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Delphi was once considered the center of the ancient world and is one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites.

Explore the Temple of Apollo, the ancient theatre, and the archaeological museum, before returning to your yacht in Itea for a relaxing evening.
